Each competitor will fish from an identically rigged Pro Angler 14 with MirageDrive 180. The boats will be rigged with a Lowrance fish finder which will allow an angler to navigate their surroundings, locate fish, find structure, determine water temperature, and much more.
Each fish finder will be mounted to the boat with a fish finder mount. Each competitor will be responsible for charging the batteries in their kayak at the end of the day.
On the stern of the boat anglers will find a Power-Pole Micro Anchor, fitted with lithium battery, and ultra lightweight spike, which is a motorized anchoring system that will be a crucial tool to an angler’s success in this environment.
The cargo area of the Pro Angler 14 (right behind the angler) will be fitted with the new V2 LiveWell.
The centre hatch will have a pivoting tackle management system installed. Tackle boxes will not be provided for competitors, so each person will need to bring their own.
A measuring ruler will be suplied for measuring fish.
Each angler will wear the supplied Hobie Australian Standards Certified inflatable PFD Type 1, which is a lightweight chassis.
Hobie Trax kayak carts will be used to transport the Pro Angler 14s from the water’s edge. Several carts will be on hand for competitors to share.
The unique, revolutionary Hobie Guardian integrates a larger cavity and larger shield to house larger transducers, including side scanning transducers, from several manufacturers.
It works just like our current Lowrance-Ready system for regular sonar and down-scanning transducers, with more space and with more features, including a patent pending integrated bungee-suspension system.
The protection this suspension system provides by allowing below-deck transducers to safely retract upon impact or for transport is what led to the name: Hobie Guardian.
This innovation will protect the angler’s investment smoothly and easily and will definitely be a game-changer in the world of kayak fishing.
